You should learn Vietnamese. I’m on year two of learning it and it has gone from “this is impossible” to “this is not easy”. So there’s light at the end of the tunnel!

I think there are a lot of foreigners that live a similar quiet life they just fly under the radar since, well, they’re not posting about it on Medium/Facebook/Instagram. In my little Saigon neighborhood there are a few foreigners who just have normal jobs and normal lives and aren’t out at sky bars and beer clubs every weekend.
